A Note from Your Publisher for the Eastside

By Katrina Cameron, Your Eastside Publisher August 18, 2016
Kids or no kids, it's never too late to be spontaneous! My mom, my sister, and I made an off the cuff trip to Yosemite National Park a few days ago. It wasn't just us three though. We were accompanied by our three mini me's for a 6-hour drive to the site of all my best childhood memories. It was wild and out of control most of the time with three little girls under the age of 4, but totally worth it! We saw eight bucks eating breakfast together, did a moonlight valley floor tour, went swimming, got lucky with a two-night stay in one of four family rooms at the Yosemite Lodge, screamed and honked our way through the tunnel to Yosemite Valley, and overall enjoyed our first all-girls trip (we're officially starting a tradition!). We had the best time, even though the little girls won't remember a thing!

Because we're still visiting in Southern California we're taking advantage of what's at the tip of our fingers, even if it is a 6-hour drive.  We're about two weeks away from being back to school, but there is still plenty of time to fit in some spontaneity.  You don't have to go far!  You can do something you've never done before or visit somewhere you've always wanted to visit.  Day trip to the Hibulb Cultural Center, hike Rattlesnake Ledge, check out Ballard Locks (and if you can do it on a boat, even better!).  There is so much to do near and far!  And if you're looking for something near, here are some events to earmark!

Enjoy the back to school articles -- one by local mom and FIT4MOM Redmond/Kirkland/Woodinville owner Erin Houg for first time moms sending off their kids to school and the other about helping your kids cope with back to school anxiety.

That's all for now!  I hope you find ways to beat the heat this coming week and I will see you around the Eastside when we return!

Katrina
