Do The Things That Bring You Joy This Fall!

By Katrina Cameron, Your Eastside Publisher September 29, 2016
I'm attempting a sort of KonMari-ing of my life because I noticed I was feeling more guilty about the busy-ness I over-committed myself to.  Am I the only one feeling the mom guilt?  Learning to say 'NO' is quite an art that I'm practicing, and so is consciously CHOOSING how I spend my time, even though it is more or less dictated by my rambunctious toddler.  But let's face it, she brings me more joy than anything else and the time we spend together exploring and adventuring are the best, which is why I'm so excited about October and all the Fall and Halloween events starting this Saturday!  And we just updated the Fall Festivals and Halloween Events Guide with even more events!

We are hosting a giveaway for all your Minecraft addicted kiddos!  At Super League's Minecraft Adventure Single Play Day on Saturday, October 1st, they are out of the house and playing with other young gamers in teams for 90 minutes of fun.  We're selecting a winner Friday morning!  If you want to get tickets, use the promo code SEATTLE for $5 off.

To counterbalance the gaming, spread the word to your children's school, afterschool program, etc. about the EnviroKids program called Ecokeepers.  It is a free nature program for camps and schools. This is a hands-on, exploration-based activity that harnesses kids’ natural curiosity and sense of discovery and blends a traditional activity passport for kids to fill-in with a modern-day treasure hunt that uses GPS on smartphones to find hidden caches.  Learn more.

It was so hard to pick out a few events happening this week, but here they are!

Caspar Babypants never disappoints the young 0-5 crowd!
Van Gough Clay Canvas is an activity you AND your child can enjoy!
Get your kids out for Minecraft Adventure Single Play Day at iPic Redmond.

...And so much more!  Events are added daily, so be sure to check back on the full calendar for updates!

In this week's newsletter we've included something you and your children can do -- make slow-cooker ribs while they make their own drum.  Enjoy the downtime while the slow-cooker does all the heavy lifting and enjoy the silence until they complete making their drum!  (Luckily it isn't as noisy as you'd expect!)

Happy October (in a couple days) and I'll see you around the Eastside!

Katrina
