The Eastside Macaroni Kid

Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville, Bothell, Kenmore

You just have to look out your window and the weather is telling us Summer is over and School is starting.  Burrrrr, a few days of nice weather does not warm me up, but, I still have a little faith that we are going to have a hot spell coming up, maybe in October!

The next few weeks are exciting weeks for many families around the area.  Whether you have children starting elementary school, middle or high school, toddler group, preschool, daycare, PEPS group, there is one thing in common, you are getting back into a routine!  When you are organizing your week's activities with your kids, be sure to use the "My Macaroni" feature.  With every event in the newsletter you can click the "Add To My Macaroni" button and the event/s will be listed in Your Macaroni list (you will find your list on the left side in a purple banner towards the top, but you have to be in the website version, which you are automatically taken to when you hit add to my macaroni).  This is a great way stay organized and view the events you are interested in.  You can also print your events out as a PDF file, which I like to have in my car for any spur of the moment things to do!

In this week's newsletter, besides all the great events and activities, we have:

  • A new give-a-way:  Mabel's Labels
  • Getting ready for Homework
  • Backpack Safety tips
  • Learn to make your own baby wipes
  • Geocaching - it not just any ordinary scavenger hunt
  • National Waffle Week
Monday is Labor Day, I encourage you to check events' websites for any unexpectted closures or time changes.

Back To School Series

Homework Happy

What you can do to encourage healthy study habits.

It’s back to school time, which means it’s also back to homework time!  Give your children a head start by encouraging healthy homework and study habits.  Here are a few things you can do for them:

1.       It’s been a long day, so give them a break before it’s time to jump back into schoolwork.  Give your child a specific amount of time to relax, but make sure they know when the time is up, it’s ...

Mabel's Labels

Win an Ultimate Back to School Combo Pack

I love, love, love labeling; especially with Mabel's Labels.  These are the perfect labels to get for all your back-to-school labeling.  Whether it is a lunch box, water-bottle, a pair of shoes, yours (I mean your child's) favorite jacket or sweatshirt, scissors, supply box, etc, these labels will stick through it all.  I have had some labels since last year this time, that I was sent to try out and they have been washed in the dishwasher or the washing machine several times and they still look like new.  I am telling you, they really do stick and STAY!

The teacher in me likes everything nice, neat, and cute so I tend to cringe when I label with a sharpy, it just doesn't look nice.  Mabel's Labels does look nice and they have a wonderful assortment of designs to choose from, your kids will love helping picking out the label and also helping with sticking the labels on everything.

I am excited to be able to offer one lucky subscriber (thanks to Mabel's Labels) a set of The Ultimate Back-to-School Combo™.  It includes all the durable, waterproof labels needed to keep your kids’ stuff out of the lost and found. This set is only available until September 24th.  You have until September 16th to enter to win this great set.

Enter to win and to find out more information about the give-a-way, CLICK HERE!
